Facilities and Physical Security Technician  

 

The main focus is to support facilities maintenance, facilities upgrades, and physical security maintenance. This will include engaging and supervising services providers. Administrative duties will include documenting daily work and contractor progress.    

 

Responsibilities

Maintenance

  • Responds to Smartsheet requests and documents work performed as well as completion status
  • Observes facilities with the aim of maintaining every installed feature  
  • Takes a leading role in facilities upgrades
  • Checks operational status of security devices and arranging repairs
  • Arranges appropriate maintenance and repair of HVAC equipment
  • Makes minor electrical repairs and supervises electrical contractors
  • Supervises janitorial services and holds vendors accountable for quality of work

Inspections

  • Monitors required inspections (time and scope of work) and files inspection reports with governing organizations
  • Inspects security devices to ensure proper function

 

Administrative

  • Contributes to the development and monitoring of the Facilities budget
  • Keeps all equipment and service provider files current.

 

Reporting

  • Reports any task that requires follow-up or budget consideration to manager
  • Completes and keeps current the Smartsheet work request spreadsheet

 

Special Projects/Other Duties

  • Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

 

Knowledge:   A demonstrated understanding of contractor management and a demonstrated ability to effectively manage relationships is required. Must possess a strong aptitude toward money management or budgeting. A working knowledge of facilities management is required. A demonstrated knowledge of maintenance standards and municipal building code is preferred.      

 

Skills: A strong attention to detail as well as organizational skills are required. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and PC skills are required; a level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) is necessary. Basic electrical, mechanical, and construction skills strongly preferred.

 

Abilities: Must have the ability to review an investment and ensure that it will be sustainable going forward. Must be able to communicate effectively with people at all levels. Must be able to use small hand tools and lift heavy loads.

 

Education: A HS diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate’s degree strongly preferred.

 

Physical demands:   Employee may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: furniture moving (up to 40 pounds), driving relative long distances, a lot of walking and viewing computer monitors.

Work Environment:  Work is performed in both an office environment and at all of our facilities.
