Senior Training Specialist
C&F Bank is recognized as one of the premier community banks in the country serving Virginians since 1927, and we are looking for a highly energetic, customer service oriented, and results focused Director of Training to join our growing C&F Bank Family!
This position reports to C&F Bank’s Senior Training Manager and is responsible for the development, program coordination, and execution of the professional development courses for two of his/her assigned C&F Bank Academy’s Colleges. The Senior Training Specialist develops, implements, and conducts training programs for his/her assigned colleges, coordinates training delivery logistics, and collects, compiles, and analyzes data for training courses, onboarding, and professional/career development program evaluations. This position requires the ability to anticipate project needs, discern priorities, and meet deadlines with little to no supervision.
The Senior Training Specialist provides support and delivers/facilitates training across a variety of learning modalities including classroom training, virtual training, and e-learning self-studies. This individual must be an ambitious self-starter with the ability to build relationships with internal and external customers. The Senior Training Specialist may also travel to branches to provide one-on-one onsite training as needed, follow up coaching to ensure learner proficiency, competency, and adoption of content, processes, and concepts learned during training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: % of Time
Designs, Develops, Coordinates, Delivers, and Evaluates Training Courses
§ Independently designs, develops, and coordinates delivery of training programs, including developing program materials and tracking participant registration
§ Plans, develops, and executes the calendar year curriculum for his/her assigned C&F Bank Academy College(s)
§ Designs, develops, and updates course content, activities, instructor guides, participant guides, visual aids, etc. with minimal direction from the Senior Training Manager
§ Uses BAI, the Bank’s Learning Management System, to pull and push information to participants, trainers, and stakeholders
§ Tracks attendance, course records, and individual records in BAI
§ Completes and maintains training catalogs, course descriptions (prerequisites), and calendars in BAI
§ Manages, facilitates, and follows up on continuing education required for students in his/her assigned college
§ Develops, and conducts technical training programs; determines objectives, outlines, text, handouts, job aids, tests, and designs real-life practice exercises
§ Works with Application Support team members to develop content, determine release timelines, content development work effort in order todeliver exemplary training
§ Delivers training on functional capabilities of software in the context of daily processes and participant roles; administers written and practical exams and writes performance reports to evaluate trainees’ performance
§ Provides instructor care for speakers and presenters as needed (development meetings, support train the trainers)
§ Administers, tracks, and analyzes Level 1, 2, and 3 evaluations to assess effectiveness of training courses; recommends design changes based on results and develops with approval from Senior Training Manager and College Deans
Measures and Evaluates Effectiveness of Programs
§ Tracks expense trends, costs associated with training courses as well as individual budgets, invoicing, and reporting

§ Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned
Knowledge: Minimum of 5 years as an individual contributor in a training role working in a professional services environment; Retail Banking experience is a plus. In-depth knowledge of adult learning theory, principles, and practices of learning and development. In-depth knowledge of learning methodologies (e.g., mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in-class room training, e-learning, simulations); track record of designing and executing successful professional development programs for a diverse array of learning styles. Functional knowledge of training design and development methodology (i.e., ADDIE, etc.). Experience with designing, developing and facilitating functional process and technical systems training programs. Familiarity with creating evaluations and assessing impact. Demonstrated experience in event coordination for offsite and onsite learning and development programs such as managing registration, program, and event management. Demonstrated knowledge using Learning Management Systems (BAI – a Sabra product is a plus). Familiarity or willingness to learn more about Learning Design tools (Captivate, In-Design, Click-2-Learn). Familiarity with creating evaluations and assessing impact.
Skills: Dynamic facilitation and presentation skills are required. Excellent communication and organization skills are also required. Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products (i.e., PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word). Proficient in SharePoint. Must understand how to design SCORM compliant e-Learning courses.
Abilities: Must be comfortable working through ambiguity. Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaborate with team members. Takes initiative to solve-problems and improve training courses based on observations, feedback, and evaluations. Communicates effectively with people at all levels and in various settings. Independently manages multiple projects and meet tight deadlines. Proactively resolves complex problems. Presents ideas effectively one-on-one and with a large group. Ability to travel as required.
Education: A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in education or a related field. A combination of experience and education will be considered. ASTD affiliation or membership. PHR/SPHR or a training certification is a plus.
Physical demands: Employee may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: view computer monitors, keyboarding, sitting, motion of fingers/hands/wrists, and standing/walking; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
Work Environment: Work is performed in an operational office environment.
