This position is equivalent to an Assistant Branch Manager. The primary objective of this role is to deliver an outstanding C&F Customer Experience to Bank customers by responding to expressed needs, including all branch transaction functions (teller or platform) and transitioning these visits into relationship building opportunities that grow earning assets. The Financial Services Representative III is responsible for proactively contacting current customers to schedule relationship reviews/deepen the relationship. The FSR III is also responsible for acquiring new customer relationships, primarily by referrals from customers and lead sources as well as occasional networking event and business development activities.

Deliver on the Brand

  • Role models all aspects of the C&F Customer Experience, to include the C&F Service Experience, the C&F Relationship Review (consumer and business) and C&F Active Site Leadership
  • Processes customer transactions and account servicing requests (deposits, payments, account maintenance, etc.
  • Transitions customer visits and calls to relationship-building opportunities
  •  Performs outbound activity to existing customers (calls, notes, and occasional business customer visits) to assess Customer Experience, probe and anticipate current/future needs, conduct C&F Relationship Reviews (via phone/in-person)
  • Ensures full knowledge of all digital banking services through personal utilization of these services in order to effectively communicate all features and benefits to both customers and prospects while also maintaining the ability answer questions regarding functionality
  • Educates customers and prospects on digital banking services options and enrolls as appropriate
  • Acquires new consumer customer relationships by leveraging internal and external lead sources
  • Attends networking/community events to build prospect list and acquire new customer relationships
  • Engages in lending activity to include taking applications and acting as primary lender with qualified consumer and business loan customers (MUST be registered MLO with NMLS prior to engaging in lending conversations)


Manages Risk

  • Complies with all BSA/CIP requirements with all new account and existing customer interactions
  • Submits all customer documentation accurately and in a timely manner
  • Resolves all outstanding file maintenance cases within specified guidelines
  • Takes ownership of other operational risk management tasks as delegated by Branch Manager
  • Adheres to the Bank’s information security policies and manages Bank information appropriately; protects customer information with high sense of accuracy and urgency


Teamwork and Influence

  • Provides fill-in staffing to other market branches as needed
  • Participates in, and occasionally leads, components of daily morning huddle/weekly team meetings
  • Coaches other teammates constructively, recognizes teammate performance
  • Educates/coaches and partners with Professional Teller team to achieve referral goals
  • Leads C&F Active Site Leadership when not with a customer to include engaging customers at the Drive Thru
  • Builds collaborative, results-oriented relationships with prioritized key internal partners: Branch and Market teammates, Customer Service, Electronic Solutions, and other Operations staff; C&F Mortgage and C&F Wealth Management representatives, and Commercial/Business Relationship Managers


Special Projects/Other Duties

  • Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned



Knowledge:   Minimum of 5 years of previous experience in a similar role is required with 1 or more years of cash handling. Previous lending experience strongly preferred.    


Skills: Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management, and communication skills are required. Strong computer skills also required.  


Abilities:  Ability to generate demand through prospecting and setting meetings. Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels and from all walks of life. Proven ability to deepen and enhance customer relationships.


Education: HS diploma or GED is required; Associate’s degree is preferred; Bachelor’s degree desired. A combination of experience and education will be considered.


Physical demands:   Employee may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: view computer monitors, keyboarding, sitting, motion of fingers/hands/wrists, and standing/walking; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.


Work Environment:  Work is performed in operational office and a retail branch environment
