    As the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP), you will provide high-level human resources support throughout the Bank in many areas by applying requisite experience, knowledge, and skills. The HRBP serves as the primary point of contact for managers in matters covering performance management, employee relations, employment law compliance, employee development and recruitment. The HRBP also serves the role of the lead in benefits including the reconciliation of benefits and payroll accounts for the Human Resources department. You will be the main human resource contact for one of our operations and/or retail business units. The unit will be determined based upon the candidate’s experience.

    Responsibilities

    The duties and responsibilities of the Human Resources Business Partner will include, but are not limited to the following:

     

    Benefits

    Research and provide counseling/guidance on all benefits program related issues. Monitor changes in the regulatory environment, partner with VBA, and ensuring the company is compliant with current regulations at all times. Actively look for errors and opportunities to reduce expenses while maintaining the relevancy and competitiveness of the company’s benefit plans. Reconciliation of benefits and payroll accounts for the Human Resources department. Explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences. Create benefits program communication materials. Develop and deliver benefits program presentations and training to a wide range of audiences using a variety of media including in-person, webcasts, video, and teleconference. Recommend and assist management with implementing process improvements, setting work priorities, and creating/updating standard operating procedures. Lead on all annual open enrollment activities.

    Compliance

    Acts as point person for the HR department in implementing new federal or state regulations that result from amended or new laws affecting the HR function of the Bank. Creates and implements any new complementary policies and procedures that may be needed due to changes in the law. Ensures all Bank locations are up-to-date on all required employment law postings. Serve as the point person for AAP. Conducts annual analysis of adverse impact and maintains AAP.

     

    Employee Relations

    Work in conjunction with management teams and employees to coach and facilitate problem solving and develop, implement, and administer employee relations programs that will contribute to a positive and tolerant work environment. Provide counsel and ensure prompt investigation for all legal-related matters; ensure that appropriate legal counsel is brought into these matters.

     

    Performance Management

    Function as an objective consultant to management with regard to organizational issues, that impact people including organizational structure, managing change, promotions, job titles, career and succession planning. Develop and implement effective communication plans to ensure optimal organizational impact. Monitors performance documentation in Work Compass (PMS). Assists managers as needed with creating an effective Individual Development Plan for employees. Creates or revises job descriptions as needed. Performs job analysis as needed.

     

    Recruitment

    Review and evaluate resumes. Apply various sourcing methods. Assess candidate’s behavioral competencies, motivational fit, and skills set through telephone and in-person interviews. Meet and consult with hiring managers and key internal clients. Create job requisitions. Verify employment references, background and credit checks. Maintain recruiting records and documentation

     

    Special projects and other duties as assigned

     

    This is an individual contributor role.

    Qualifications

    • A college degree is required; a degree in human resources management is strongly preferred.
    • PHR or SPHR designation required.
    • A high-level understanding of human resources principles – through coursework and/or work experience – is required.
    • 7-10 years of experience in a broad range of HR disciplines that includes employee relations, compliance and performance management is required.
    • Strong attention to detail as well as organizational skills is required.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and PC skills are required.
    • A level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is strongly preferred.
    • Must be able to communicate effectively with people at all levels.
    • Ability to comprehend concepts and put them into practical application.
    • Demonstrated ability to execute and deliver on projects along with day-to-day activities.
    • Excel at building collaborate relationships.
    • Should be proactive, self-starter.
    • Travel to branches and other bank locations 10-25% of the time required.
