Administer the commercial appraisal process from initial service request through the review process and loan closing.  Supervise daily operations of the appraisal department workflow.


Completion of Objectives Assigned (80%):

  • Completes specific objectives assigned, which are agreed to at the Implementation of appraisal operational processes that support the Bank’s strategic plan.
  • Collaborates with other areas of C&F.
  • Coordinates cross-functional activities of the appraisal department with those of other Bank departments.
  • Actively conduct the daily operational activities necessary to ensure timely delivery of appraisals to the commercial lending team.
  • Provide expertise in the appraisal engagement process to establish valid property rights and values in commercial appraisals ordered.
  • Manage Commercial Team’s needs for ordering appraisals which are contracted through third party vendors to ensure accuracy, compliance and collateral risk mitigation.
  • Identifies and vets new appraisers.

Other Duties (20%): 

  • Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Provides quality control reviews for the loan portfolio.
  • Works with External Loan Review to clear documentation exceptions.
  • Provide loan system maintenance support as needed specific to problem loan accounting.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management required.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of banking experience required.
  • Commercial Real Estate background with banking exposure preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Detailed knowledge of real estate appraisal regulations preferred.
  • Understanding of commercial appraisal regulation preferred.
  • Understanding of the bank’s core operating system (Fiserv) and the related loan codes preferred.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution, required.
  • Sound administrative skills, well-developed management skills-principles and people.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of standard and specialized computer hardware and software packages such as Microsoft Office.
  • Read and understand a variety of reports, spreadsheets and forms.
  • Effectively and clearly communicate information through all media channels.
  • Effectively facilitate processes and operations with vendors and bank staff at all levels.
  • Handle several tasks simultaneously and work under time restraints.




Physical demands:  

Employee may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: view computer monitors, keyboarding, sitting, motion of fingers/hands/wrists, and standing/walking. 


Work Environment:

Work is performed onsite in an operational office environment.
