Overview

The Loan Servicing I – Asset Protection and Servicing Associate will have routine internal and external customer contact.  In this role, job functions will have moderate regulatory and reputational risk. This position ensures the bank’s collateral is protected through monitoring insurance requirements and facilitating our real estate tax tracking service.  Additional loan servicing duties include processing loan payments, answering loan questions, and the booking and maintenance of loan data.

 

Functional Area of Focus:

Ensure appropriate hazard insurance is maintained on collateral held by bank

Process loan payments, book (board) loans, and assist customers with loan related questions

Order tax tracking contracts

Responsibilities

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Collateral Protection and Compliance (55%)

  • Contact insurance agents or customers related to cancelled hazard insurance policies in accordance with required regulations and bank policy
  • Facilitate force-placement of insurance as needed to protect the bank and in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Assist with tracking and clearing exceptions on the BakerHill Advisor system and update software as exceptions/missing items are received
  • Reconcile force-placement bill and allocate billing to appropriate loan
  • Administer the Bank’s tax tracking monitoring service, resolve outstanding tax tracking issues, and update information on core processing system
  • Cancel tax tracking service upon receipt of paid note statement
  • Reconcile monthly tax tracking bill and allocate payment to correct branch

 

 

Payment Processing and Loan Servicing Support (45%)

  • Process loan payments and reconcile departmental transactions via Front Counter Capture
  • Input payment transactions on Transaction Management System (TMS) or transaction block as necessary
  • Answer incoming calls and correspondence from internal and external customers with loan or servicing related questions
  • Review various loan reports and balance multiple general ledger accounts
  • Respond to attorneys and title companies related to loan payoff requests
  • Investigate and resolve payment/posting issues
  • Review loan approval document and compare against note for accuracy
  • Compare disbursement documents to activation ticket prior to booking
  • Book originated loans onto Navigator system and verify accuracy of input
  • Work with loan processor(s) to clarify or validate inconsistent information between approval memo and executed loan documents
  • Monitor and troubleshoot electronic payments (ACH) made through Paymentus portal
  • Perform other loan servicing related duties at direction of loan servicing management

Qualifications

 

Knowledge:

One year of banking experience, preferably in loan servicing, loan documentation, or loan origination. 

 

Skills:              

Demonstrated analytical skills; demonstrated proficiency in the use of standard and specialized computer hardware and software packages such as Microsoft Office; demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills.

 

Abilities:          

Attention to detail with the ability to use available resources to solve problems and follow regulations. Highly organized with the ability to manage daily priorities and deadlines while also having the flexibility to assist with higher priority customer service situations.   

 

Education:          

A combination of education, training, and work experience is considered. 

 

Travel:

Occasional local travel for meetings.

           

Physical demands:  

Employee may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: view computer monitors, keyboarding, sitting, motion of fingers/hands/wrists, and standing/walking.

 

Work Environment: 

Work is performed in an operational office environment.
