Overview

Job Summary:

The Commercial Support Specialist (CSS) primarily supports Relationship Manager(s) (RM) and their portfolios. Key responsibilities are managing loans from set-up to post-closing and responding to customer service requests.  The CSS is also responsible for a variety of administrative and business development activities assisting all members of the Commercial Lending team. The CSS should perform their daily responsibilities with a spirit of teamwork, urgency, customer accommodation and an overall willingness to attempt to make the team more productive.

Responsibilities

Loan Portfolio Support (40%)

  • Assists Relationship Manager with loan request, submission, processing
  • Closes loans when necessary
  • Acts as liaison between Relationship Manager, Credit, Loan Processing, and closing attorney
  • Process draw requests in accordance with the Bank’s approved policy and procedures
  • Periodically accompanies Relationship Manger on client calls
  • Trouble Shooting/Pinch-Hitting – The CSS strives to fill-in for other members of the team, when necessary, by attempting to find answers to the customers’ questions by coordinating with the RM(s) and processor(s). The CSS  may also be asked to perform administrative tasks on behalf of the company as needed.
  • Initiates appraisal process through RIMS Appraisal Management
  • Supports various types of lending including Business Lending and Letters of Credits
  • Assists Relationship Manager with maturities, past due loans, document exceptions, evidence of insurance and financial tracking
  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of all customers, businesses and prospect opportunities
  • Introduce Attorney Closed Loans

Customer Service (30%)

  • Responds to customer requests in a timely manner
  • Researches and resolves any customer issues/problems
  • Serves as liaison between Relationship Manager and customer
  • Promotes an environment that reflects the C&F Brand

Administrative (30%)

  • Assists with general administrative duties such as filing and copying
  • Fulfills all necessary training; ensures BAI courses are up to date
  • Runs reports as requested
  • Orders supplies
  • Performs Notary acts as required
  • Special Projects/Duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Qualifications:

A demonstrated understanding of lending principles and the loan cycle is required. Experience in loan processing and/or

documentation experience in business or commercial banking environment.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Skills:              

Demonstrated organizational skills and detail-orientation is required.  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required. Demonstrated PC skills are required; a level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook) and navigating the internet is necessary to be successful in this role. Experience with typical office equipment is necessary.

 

Abilities:          

Read and understand a variety of reports, spreadsheets, and forms; effectively communicate information clearly through all media channels; interact effectively with clients and Bank employees at all levels; handle several tasks simultaneously and to work under time limits.

 

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent is required. AIB or college courses strongly preferred. An associate or bachelor’s degree is desired.

 

Travel

Required as needed to our Operations Center in Toano, VA

 

Physical demands:  

Employee may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: view computer monitors, keyboarding, sitting, motion of fingers/hands/wrists, and standing/walking; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.

 

Work Environment:

Work is performed onsite in an operational office environment.
